Keweenaw Krayons joins with the entire Keweenaw in offering our
condolences to the family and friends of Dan Schmitt. Dan was a part
of Keweenaw Krayons musical happenings for nearly six years. On Saturday,
Dec 29, at the age of 20, Dan died in an auto accident.
Dan's dad, Don Schmitt, has put together a CD with a
compilation of
some of his original music. #10 is with Graham Parsons. Fifty of
these albums were available at the Keweenaw Folk Music Festival
held at the Calumet Theatre
on Saturday, January 26 at 7 p.m and kicked off the
Keweenaw Krayons' Dan Schmitt Gift of Music
Fund.
Dan was part of the Squeaky Clean Cretins, who played at the festival.
We here at Keweenaw Krayons are honored by the trust Don and Dan's friends have
placed in us regarding this "Gift of Music Fund". We see Dan's music and
gift living on with this fund, which will be used so other young musicians
can reach their vision.
For more information on the fund, call Keweenaw Krayons at 337-4706 or email
staff@keweenawkrayons.com
