ArtServe Michigan House Appropriations Committee Approves MCACA Funding At $10.1 Million and 5 FTE’s This morning the House Appropriations Committee adopted the House Substitute to Senate Bill 231 restoring funding for the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA), under the Department of History, Arts and Libraries (HAL), to $10.1 million and 5 full time employees (FTE) for FY08. The bill will now go before the full House of Representatives for a vote and if passed will head to conference committee. Two weeks ago the Senate voted to cut MCACA’s funding to $6.5 million as well as capping the council at 3 FTE’s; given the difference in funding levels between the Senate and House, the conference committee, made up of three Senators and three Representatives, would negotiate a final funding figure for FY08. ArtServe will continue to keep you up-to-date on all that is occurring as the HAL budget progresses through the House. As always, if you have any questions
