We urge you to take a drive by the UnionJoe, 17, works on the panel Building in Downtown Calumet and see the six murals on the side of the building.  Part of a Community Art Project sponsored by the Keweenaw National Historical Park in partnership with Keweenaw Krayons, the murals are the masterpiece of Project Director, Artist Adria Simpson and Artist Clyde Mikkula who both worked with over 15 local people between the ages of six and 87 in the Fall of 03.  Prior to that time, Catalina Oyler, Student Director for Keweenaw Krayons Traditions Alive Program worked with youth in that program researching the craftsmen who worked on the building of the Union Building in the late 1800s.  Clyde then drew sketches of the craftsmen - they were transposed onto 6 x 8 ft panels and the fun began.  We've added pictures of the sketches used to make the panels. Cards, calendars, coloring books, magnets, and more featuring the art coming soon.
